Thank you for stopping by to read my Snippet Sunday and Weekend Writing Warriors contribution. This week picks up after Rodger and Rachel have finished dinner and they’re in a cab on the way to his hotel. We’re in Rodger’s POV–he sounds formal because he’s still (partly) in character as Rohbert.
“Come on up, have a cup of coffee, and then we’ll get you home,” Rodger insisted. “I vow my intentions are noble, My Lady.” Rachel wrinkled her brow, looked like she was about to say something, then seemed to change her mind with a shake of the head and a quirk of the mouth. She told the cab driver to go to the hotel and then she sat back. In a move that took Rodger by surprise, she grabbed his arm, put it around her, and then snuggled up next to him.
“I’m cold,” she explained, mumbling into his chest.
So close to her, he could smell her soft scent of lavender. His eyes wandered down to her bare legs, the skirt having ridden up to mid-thigh. Rodger’s hand itched to reach down and feel if she was as creamy smooth as she looked.
He swallowed and resisted the impulse.
So why did Rodger resist? And for how long will Rachel let him keep his hands to himself? 😉 Come back next week to find out!
