Snippet Sunday’s Swashbuckler #20

Yippee! It’s the weekend! Welcome to Snippet Sunday–thank you for stopping by to ready my share of Swashbuckler, a contemporary romance. Please feel free to leave feedback as this is still a WIP. All comments are welcome. 🙂

Rachel, my heroine, is at a Hollywood industry party, feeling very out of place. Continuing from last week…

Rachel looked up to see the person who’d asked the question: man; light, wavy hair. He was also smiling–at her now, his eyes looking directly at her lips. She swallowed the last bit of fish in a hurry, almost choking on the flesh as it swam down her gullet.

“Uh,” she said, coughing lightly to gain time while her brain thought of something to say. “Just enjoying the sights.”

“Quite a shindig, eh?” the man countered, looking out across the room. Rachel couldn’t help but admire his profile. He was one of the beautiful people that belonged here. Chiseled jaw that looked familiar, a strong, long neck, ribbed with muscles, framed by luscious blond locks.

  1. Love this description “almost choking on the flesh as it swam down her gullet.” Awkward… coughing lightly to gain time, lol. Based on the man she “sees” is he more of a fantasy come true?
